Agentic Browsing

Agentic browsing is when an AI assistant uses websites to complete a task for a person. It might compare products across pages, fill a form, or gather information before a decision.

The assistant may work across several pages and pause for approval before taking an important action. What it can do depends on the website and the access the person has given it.

An AI crawler visits many pages to collect information for search or AI development. A browsing agent handles one person's task, so its visit may look more like an ordinary website visit in analytics.

Clear navigation and accurate content help both people and AI assistants use a website. WebMCP is a proposed way for a site to make some actions easier for assistants to find.
