Citations

See which websites and pages AI engines link to when they answer your prompts, how often they link to you, and which sources to work on.

When an AI engine answers a question, it often links to the websites it relied on. Those links are citations. The Citations page shows which sites AI trusts on your topics, and whether your own site is one of them.

Being mentioned and being cited are different. A mention puts your name in the answer. A citation sends the reader to a website, and that website shapes what AI says next time. If AI keeps citing a review site or a directory, getting your story onto that site is often the fastest way to change the answer.

The numbers at the top

  • Your citation share: of all the citations in the answers, how many point to your site.
  • Answers with Citations: the share of AI answers that cite at least one source.
  • Your Avg Position: when AI links to you, where you sit in its list of sources. 1 means first.
  • Unique Pages Cited and Unique Websites Cited: how many different pages and sites AI linked to.
  • Citations per Answer: how many sources a typical answer cites.
  • Citation Efficiency: links divided by websites. A high number means AI keeps going back to the same few sites.

Filters

Like Visibility, Citations opens on the last 15 days. You can change the date range at the top of the page.

On Top Cited Pages, use Source to choose whose pages you see:

  • Your domain: your own pages.
  • Off-page: every page that is not yours, competitors included.
  • Competitors: only your tracked competitors' pages.
  • Third-party: pages that belong neither to you nor to a tracked competitor, such as news, review and community sites.

For third-party pages, Source type narrows the list further to Review sites, Community / UGC, Directories & portals, Knowledge, Content platforms or Other.

Both rankings have a Download button for a CSV file.

Ideas for using this page
